Our Practices

We practice the baptism of infants and understand Scripture to say that it is also a “means of grace” – a way that God gives us forgiveness, life and salvation.

To help parents lead their children into a personal saving relationship with Jesus, we offer Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and weekly Children’s sermons. We also offer Bible study for junior and senior high students (called “confirmation”) and for adults.

After a 2-year study of the entire Bible and the basics of the Christian Faith in 5th and 6th grades, we invite young people to “confirm” their faith in Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.

We strongly encourage our St. John members and all believers in Christ to be faithful in prayer (Romans 21:12) and in reading and studying the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16).

We are a “Lutheran” church and are part of Lutheran Congregations for Mission in Christ (LCMC), an association of 941 congregations in 42 states and territories and 15 countries.
